Dogs Do Go to Heaven

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today marks a new challenge over at PINspirational. Before we get to our challenge I would like to share my card, enjoy!

This is a lovely card for a recipient who has lost its best friend. I think it's neutral colors are comforting and calming.

Challenge #197

______________________________

This card has been printed, water colored using markers and an aqua pen. Each piece of stained glass was fussy cut and reinserted on another printout to create texture. The cross again was colored this time in gold paint and the white was cut out of shimmering paper. The Embellishments were self stick dots again added for texture and focal point. Below you will see be hard in the light and the card without light.

This is a good shot of the dimension on this card. There's visual dimension using the watercolored stained glass, cross, and the die cut dog. Also, physical dimension by cutting each pane of stained glass, pop dots for the already dimensional cross and of course our beloved dog. The simple sentiment says it all, I'm sorry for your loss.
Challenges Entered:

As some of us know, losing a dog is losing a family member. We lost our Great Pyrenees, Thor, September 10th 2001. The next day, as we all know, was September 11th the day the world changed. Later on we said that Thor was taken to heaven so he can greet all the fallen from September 11th. I will always remember him.

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by my little byte of the internet. I do hope you will join us at PINspirational. It should be fun! Until then take care and happy crafting.

All the best,
Shawna

Messy Paint

Hello All,

Today I would like to enter the challenge Fusion. This card takes both the inspiration photo and sketch and well... Fuses them together. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card was made for one of my kiddos on their first day of school. I think a nice word of encouragement
is good for the first day
.
At first I wanted to do was color the paint brushes rainbow but after checking the inspiration photo I didn't feel rainbow was necessary. So I picked some of the dominant colors and started stamping.
I saw the sketch had some symmetrical traits, so I thought keeping one side crisp and clean while the other is an 'artistic' mess.

Challenges Entered:
Fusion: Pastel Pencils

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Shelves

Hello All,

For today I will be entering Inkspirational. Their vivid colors combined with rustic elements compelled me to enter this challenge at the last minute. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I really like the visual balance of this card.
I took the yellow color from the inspiration and decided to
create a vase for the wispy grass plant.

Above: The paper comes from a DD pack. All I did was sponge Cracked Pichashio, Mermaid Lagoon on 3 of the 5 boards. Afterward, I distressed the edges with gray ink and pencil.  Below: The white shelf from the inspiration made a wonderful strip for my sentiment. It seems to anchor the card nicely. Bottom: The shell was stamped on patterned luster paper. It is the only element on the card that has shine.

Entering Challenges:
Inkspirational: Challenge #40- Photo

My daughter loves to write as much as I love to make cards! Naturally I signed her up to go to writing camp. lt is there the students went on field trips to local restaurants, sample their food, and write up a review about the establishment. One trip they visited a bakery shop and got to sample all they had to offer. Poor child 😉! Afterward, the baker asked them to design a donut (I saw it as free marketing advice) and the winning donut will be sold next week to the public. Well, my girl won!! He said her recipe was cost effective, simple ingredients, and yes, yummy. Here is her recipe:
A plain donut with caramel frosting topped with apples, walnuts, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. WOW! Does that sound good! So if you happen to be in the neighborhood go on over to the local donut shop and order 'The Nutcracker' donut. It is sure to please.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Sand and Sea

Hello All,

We are all holding on to the last days of Summer. Days are shorter and school is about to start but that doesn't mean we can't hold on a bit longer. That is why I am entering Addicted to CAS, Addicted to Stamps and More and AAA Cards Challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This is where sand and sea meet. The text 'sand' and 'sea' were done using
two sets of alphabet stamps. They look like they belong together!
This card would be a perfect thank you, encouragement, thinking of you
or even a get well card.
The adjectives used are so well... calming and peaceful.
Perfect for the last days of relaxing Summer fun.
Challenges Entered:
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #117- One Layer
AAA Cards: CAS Game #96- Summer Fun
Addicted to Stamps and More: #254- Clean and Simple

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Light of the World

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome again to our August release from MHKDesigns! For today we are featuring our 'Light of the World' stamp set. This set is uplifting and humorous. It is sure to make anyone's day a bit brighter. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The light coming from the bulb was all done electronically. I did, however, distress the bottom and edges of the center image using Black Soot Distress ink.
Tinkering with an ombre effect in photo editing software proved not to be too difficult.

Using the sunburst die is a modern twist to such a vintage image.
Actual light bulbs with filament is a thing of the past making this image look a lot older than it did ten years ago.

The card displayed in complete light
showing off the gold luster in the sunburst.

Mixing two sentiments to create a new sentiment is one way
to stretch your MHKDesigns stamps.

Circular Autumn

Hello All,

Today I would like to enter the challenges CAS(E) this Sketch and Challenge Up Your Life. I happen to love circles and the sketch provided was perfect for this Autumn scene. Here is my card for today, enjoy!
The traditional elements get a modern twist with the
representation of a tree and grass made from dots and circles.
I really enjoy its graphic interest and retro feel.
The dot/circles stamped on the ground were from bits and pieces
within larger sets already in my stash.
I added a few dots on the tree stamp to coordinate with the ground below.
Small details do mean a lot. The stitched curve for the ground gives it a bit more dimension.
Challenges Entered:
CAS(E) this Sketch: CTS #233
Challenge Up Your Life: Challenge #72- Circles

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

The Great Outdoors

Hello All,

My family and I love to camp. This Summer we have traveled all around the state of Michigan. Camping at our state parks proves to be a fabulous way to spend time exploring and spending quality time with my family. This is why The Paper Players and the one layer challenge at Addicted to CAS really peeked my interest with this week's challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I originally thought I would watercolor this card until I got a very large smudge on my card. So out of frustration I took my finger and smudged it all over the bottom of the card. I was taken back how striking the black and white looked.

I used three stamps to create this scene.
The couple who are in the foreground, the tall pines are in the midground
and the mountain scene in the background.
All I had to do was mask the couple and stamp!

The smudging created a gradation effect to the couple
which I feel really makes this card gorgeous and a bit dreamy.
Challenges Entered:
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #117- One Layer Card
The Paper Players: Theme Challenge- the great outdoors (PP356)

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Greetings from 1839

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to TheGrandStampede! Today I am going to show you some inspiration for your MHKDesigns digital stamps. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I know the title of this post seems unusual.  The title comes from my daughter who thought the 'Fabulous Flowers' set looked Victorian. I told her these were vintage images that may have come from the Victorian Era.
Which, by the way, my daughter informs me the Victorian Era was in 1839.

I invite you to check out her Etsy store and see for yourself
the versatility of stamp sets and the variety of digital papers we have to offer

The banners located on the top of the card makes for a
perfect and minimal embellishment.
The white background allows the 'Fabulous Flowers' to become center stage.
Such a pretty digi stamp set.
The brown monochromatic color scheme is very suited for fall.
Nothing sparkly here but as you will see there is a bit of luster!
Challenges Entered:

I encourage you to stop by the MHKDesigns blog to see more inventive ideas from our design team, and then play along with our monthly challenge, or just enjoy a bit of eye candy.

There is a lot more to discover at MHKDesigns Etsy Shop! Stop on over and see what we have to offer. It is certain to spark the imagination. So, thank you for stopping by and hope to see you soon. Take care and happy crafting.
